Police reinforcement required for counting of votes in Pwalugu

EC officers and party agents in the Anglican Mission School in Pwalungu, a polling station in the Talensi Constituency, are unable to count votes due to an overwhelming crowd.

The Upper East Regional Police Command has been asked to deploy more police and military men to to help restore calm for counting to proceed.

A member of the Talensi EC District Election Taskforce, confirmed the incident to Graphic Online.

The source said beyond the reinforcement from the regional command, a patrol team was already on its way to the school.

 

UPDATE

As a result of the reinforcement, calm has now returned and the EC officials and the party agents are now locked up in the Anglican Church Auditorium, where they are sorting the ballots before counting begins.
