Corporal Robert Kumi Ackah was escorting an 'OA' passenger bus to the Northern Region when the incident occurred on that highway.

At the time of his death, Ackah was a lance corporal but the Police Administration has promoted him to a Corporal posthumously.

He was attached to the Tamale Rapid Deployment Force.

Burial service

Present at the burial service at the Victoria Park at Axim was the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante Apeatu; Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Prosper Ablor, the Director-General Welfare; DCOP Mr Kwesi Mensah Duku, the Western Regional Police Commander and other senior police officers.

Eulogy

The officiating pastor, Supt Philbert Zubaviel, who is also the Axim District Police Commander, eulogised the late Ackah and described him as a hardworking and committed officer.

He recalled that while in the service, Corporal Ackah served at the Regional Police headquarters in Tamale where he offered his best until his untimely death on May 28, 2017.

In a sermon, Right Reverend Supt Hannah Sackey of the Ghana Police Church, Odorkor branch, reiterated the need for “mankind to stand firm in the Lord in times of difficulties such as had befallen the officer, son, brother, husband, father and colleague.”

Tributes were read by the IGP, family, wife, old schoolmates and members of the Tamale branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where the late officer worshipped.
