The young woman, who claims to be a hairdresser and also works as a commercial sex worker around the Madina Market in the night, gave her name only as Barikisu.

She is said to have connived with two young men whose identities were not readily available to attack a client at the Madina Lorry Station.

Barikisu is also accused of masterminding physical attacks on a number of men who patronised her services, framing them up as persons who had attempted to rape her.

During such attacks, it was said Barikisu and her accomplices succeeded in dispossessing their victims of their mobile phones, money and other valuable items.

Information

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Afia Tenge, said the police received information at about 8p.m. on October 22, 2016 that a youngman had been attacked after attempting to rape a young woman near the Madina Market.

She said a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene and they rescued the man but investigations showed that Barikisu and her accomplices had rather lured the man into a nearby kiosk and framed him up.

She said the victim, whose name has been withheld, told the police that he has gone to the Madina Lorry Station to board a vehicle for Koforidua, when he was approached by Barikisu.

Mrs Tenge said the victim claimed that Barikisu offered him a short time sexual service at a fee, which he agreed to, following which she took him to a kiosk, where unknown to him, two men had laid ambush to attack him.

Accomplices

According to Mrs Tenge, the victim said immediately he entered the kiosk with Barikisu, she stripped naked and started shouting that she was being raped and the two accomplices started attacking him.

While Barikisu shouted for help, the two men ordered the victim to hand over his mobile phone and money.

Mrs Tenge said although her two accomplices managed to escape arrest, Barikisu was arrested by the police.

She said when the police conducted a search on Barikisu, they found the stolen mobile phone and GH¢50 on her.

The victim is said to have identified the mobile phone as his while the money is believed to be Barikisu’s share of the money which was stolen from the victim.
