David Mensah, 30, aka Geh, is said to have posed as a security official during the inauguration of the Frafraha Community Day Senior High School by President John Dramani Mahama at Adentan.

It took the vigilance of some police personnel who were on duty during the inauguration ceremony to cause his arrest.

The event attracted many people, including residents of Frafraha, supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and government and education officials.

Suspicion

Briefing journalists in Accra, the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul Ayittey, said the suspicious police officers subjected Mensah to interrogation, and his ignorance about the work of a security operative, confirmed their suspicion that he was an imposter.

My Ayittey said on November 11, Mensah arrived very early at the venue for the inauguration of the school claiming he was a security detail from the Flagstaff House.

Some of the items retrieved from him

Mensah is said to have paraded himself as a security operative holding a security communications gadget and a torch.

When he was subsequently arrested, a pistol and a pair of handcuffs were found on him.

The police are said to have also retrieved a number of military apparel, including military uniforms and a US military cap from him later.

Mr Ayittey said a further search on him led to the retrieval of two digital cameras. According to Mr Ayittey, upon interrogation, Mensah admitted that he was not a security operative at the Presidency but told the police he was an ex-military officer.
