Albert Kwadjo, 28, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing when he appeared before the court, presided by Ms Janet Anima Marfo.

He was granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with two sureties to reappear at a later date.

His accomplice, Nater Kofi alias Nat Bongo, is at large and the court has issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah told the court that both  the complainant, Madam Grace Opata, 72, a trader and Kwadjo who also claimed to be a petty trader, lived  at Agomanya a suburb of Odumase Krobo.

He said about one and half months ago Grace went to visit her daughter in Accra and left her house in the care of her two granddaughters aged 12 and 14.

ASP Yeboah said on July 12, 2016 at 7:00 a.m., the two girls locked the rooms and left for school but on their return, they realised that the burglar proof and sliding glass in one of the windows in the house had been damaged.

He said on entering the house they saw that their grandmother’s bedroom had been ransacked.

The prosecutor said the children reported the incident to one Victoria Opata who is their aunt who in turn lodged a complaint at the Odumase police station

Inspector Yeboah said Grace on her  return, detected that 11 half  pieces of  cloth, Blood Pressure (BP) checking machine, Bank of Ghana 50th anniversary cloth , large quantities of traditional beads , two ladies wrist watch, one bed sheet and pillow cases and ladies dresses were all stolen.

ASP Yeboah said Grace and her family member started conducting their own investigations and a witness who on the day of the incident saw Kwadjo and his accomplice coming out of Grace’s house with a luggage mentioned their names to the victim.

He said Grace armed with that information, also informed the police and Kwadjo was arrested on August 15, 2016.

When a search was conducted in his room, the BP checking machine, four half pieces of cloth, the Bank of Ghana 50th Anniversary cloth, two dresses, and the bed sheet and pillow cases were retrieved.

He said Kwadjo admitted the offence and mentioned Nater as his accomplice.
