Some of the topics treated were ‘Educational marketing, Financing School Projects and Buses, Structured ICT curriculum, Development of School Stuff.

Changing trends

The Chief Executive Officer of DEG, Mr George Sackey Jnr, told the Daily Graphic that with the changing trends in technology, teaching and learning, there was the need to bring the school owners, teachers and school heads up to speed with these changes and help them to meet these challenges.

He said the summit,  organised in partnership with dealers in educational materials and financial service providers, was to create a one stop shop for the school owners and managers to get the necessary assistance to effect the necessary changes that would keep them abreast of issues.

Purpose

Mr Sackey said the purpose of the summit was to bring the stakeholders together and share information on new trends in education with them and to provide a common platform for the service providers, and the school owners and their heads to share ideas.

According to him, with the current changes in technology, schools ought to change their curriculum to reflect the time and also adopt new strategies that would enable them to fuse technology with the old traditional way of teaching.

The summit was attended by representatives from mainly private schools.

Also present was the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr Christian Addai Poku.

As part of the summit, there was an educational fair where educational materials and services were exhibited.

There were also presentations from partners like Rana Motors, dealers in Ashock Leyland buses, and Advans Ghana, a financial institution.

The participants were taken through the process of acquiring a financial assistance to meet certain pressing needs affecting their establishment and how to acquire a bus on credit basis.

There were also presentations from other partners such as Schoolboxplus, suppliers of educational books.
