The President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, made the call after initiating Nene Animle as the 16th member of the house at an induction ceremony at Dodowa.

Nene Animle, known in private life as Mr Stanley Martin Kwesi Animle, a businessman, was selected, endorsed and installed as the Paramount Chief of Osudoku after the death of Nene Klagbordjor Animle V in February this year.

Induction

At a colourful ceremony at the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa, the Leader of the kingmakers of the Osudoku Traditional Area, Setse Stephen Awudu Amponsah Animle, raised Nene Animle’s right hand three times and handed him over to the President of the Regional House of Chiefs to signify Nene Animle’s complete admission to the house.

“On behalf of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, I, the President of the house, have accepted you into our fold with both hands to continue what your predecessor was doing before he was called to glory some few months ago,” Nene Akuaku stated.

“We hope your contributions as a new member will be meaningful to enhance the activities of the house,” he added.

Nene Animle took the official oath, the oaths of secrecy and allegiance and the judicial oath which were administered by the Tema High Court Judge, Mr Justice Alexander Osei Tutu.

Observations

Nene Akuaku, who is the Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, noted that most often the selection, installation and endorsement of paramount chiefs led to litigation and court actions which retarded development.

He said he was happy that in Nene Animle’s case, all the processes leading to his installation were peaceful because of the mutual understanding among the kingmakers in the traditional area.

He entreated the people to get closer to Nene Animle to ensure the accelerated development of the area.

“When there is peace in the Osudoku Traditional Area, then the regional house will also have peace and fewer problems to solve,’’ he indicated.

A member of the house, Nene Kanor Atiapah III, who is the Manklalo and acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council, stressed the need for unity and harmony in all the traditional areas in the region.

He said being a chief was an honour to serve and not to lord it over one’s subjects and, therefore, advised the new member to run an open administration to enable the people to make an input in the development of the area.

Appreciation

Nene Animle, for his part, expressed appreciation to the king- makers and the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs for accepting him into the house.

He mentioned one of the challenges militating against the development of the area as the bad road network and appealed for support from the government to fix that problem.
