Nominations for Auto Awards out

Nominations for the second Ghana Auto Awards, an event meant to celebrate excellence in the auto industry in the country, are out.
Seventeen companies would be vying for awards in 30 categories on a night technology, innovation and efficiency will be the high points of celebration.
This year’s event is scheduled for September 30.

Organised by Xodus Communications, the purpose of the Ghana Auto Awards is to provide consumers with sound, comparative information on vehicles that are new on the market by selecting the best new vehicles in the various categories.

Nominees

The 2016 nominees include Mercedes Benz, Audi, Chevrolet, Land Rover, Range Rover, Honda, Jaguar, Hyundai, Tata, Daewoo, Renault, Skoda, Isuzu, Suzuki, Tonaton, Cheki, Standard Bank, Unibank, Stallion Motors, Silver star, Auto Plaza, Tata Africa Holdings, Alliance Ghana, Premium Motors and Mac Ghana.

Categories

They will be competing for honours including Best Micro Car, Family Car of the Year, Safety Award, Convertible of the Year, Brand of the Year, Luxurious Car of the Year, Best City Car, Economy Car of the Year, Best 4X4, Best Sports Car of the Year, Best in Auto Finance, Green Car of the Year, Light and Heavy Truck of the Year and Excellence in

Corporate Social Responsibility.

The others are Best Interior, Discovery of the Year, Auto Company of the Year, Best Performance, Best Pick Up of the Year, Mini Truck of the Year, Best Service Company, Brand of the Year, and Online Auto Market and Promising Company of the Year.

The awards jury assessed the vehicles based on technical specifications, including pricing, safety, performance, environment, ride, running and repair cost, seating comfort, handling, fuel consumption, space, warranty, ergonomics, standard features and finish quality.

The Events Director of GAA, Mr Richard Abbey Jnr, said the awards were meant to develop a buyer guide for automobile buyers and enthusiasts in the country.
