NGO gives to Asiakwa SOS Village

Women of Transformation and Reformation (WOTAR), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), with a vision to embark on a nationwide outreach programme and work towards empowering women and the youth through the provision of free skills training, has donated items to the Asiakwa SOS Village, a foster home in the Eastern Region.

The items included bags of rice, non-alcoholic  beverages, biscuits, water and disinfectants and other valuable items worth  GH¢1,500.

Making the donation last Sunday at the home, the President of  WOTAR, Evangelist Mrs Agnes Eshun, encouraged the children not to feel disappointed in view of the situation in which they found themselves, stressing that a lot of prominent people in the country and across the world were once like them, with some also growing up in foster homes.

Achieving dreams

“Even the late Nelson Mandela, the great human rights activist and South Africa’s former President, was in a foster home, so what stops you from achieving your dreams? It is all about determination, hard work and perseverance in life, be focused,” Mrs Eshun advised.

Making reference to David in the Bible, she said though David was treated as an outcast in the desert and was taking care of his father’s flocks, God used that condition to train him to be a king, urging all the children never to give up in life and also know their identity, especially in Christ, because “God’s blessing on His people are enormous”.

“Some children carry special stars and God in His own knowledge can make them great no matter where they are hidden, like He did for Joseph and David,” she added.

Gratitude

Mrs Eshun expressed gratitude to the caretakers of the home for the patience and kindness shown to the children, and urged them to continue with the good work because they would receive their reward.

She appealed to other entities and individuals to come to the aid of the children and the caretakers to enhance the operation of the facility.

The items donated were presented by the members of the group and the New Tafo Christ Apostolic Church.
