New Juaben Assembly supports Nana Kweku Boateng School

The New Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has handed over a two-storey 12-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities to the Nana Kwaku Boateng School at Betom in Koforidua.

The block, funded by the World Bank at a cost of GH¢837,875.42 was completed in record time of eleven months.

The new block is expected to help bring an end to the shift system in the school.

Handing over the school block, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Kwabena Okyere Kusi, commended the World Bank for funding the project.

He said he was happy that the contractor, Messrs Kingswosco Enterprise Limited was able to complete work within the stipulated one year and urged others to emulate same.

Mr Kusi said it was one of the priorities of the assembly to eliminate the shift system in the municipality and gave an assurance that "the assembly will in the near future provide a structure for the kindergarten.

Let us maintain standards and ensure that this structure is well-maintained by planting grass to check erosion, among others, he added.

He suggested that part of the school fees of pupils should be set aside as rehabilitation fund for minor repairs.

The New Juaben Municipal Director of Education, Mr Kwame Ofori, described the school block as one of the best in Koforidua, adding that all the junior high school (JHS) classrooms would be relocated to the new block.

He thanked the assembly for its foresight and expressed the hope the pupils of the school would take advantage of the serene atmosphere to study hard.
