Nduom, Mahama, Nana Konadu scale through as presidential candidates

Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Dr Edward Mahama of the People's National Convention (PNC) have been passed by the Electoral Commission as presidential candidates for the December 7 election.

They will join the four other candidates who were earlier cleared by the Commission. They are Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent  candidate.

The chairperson of EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei made this known on Wednesday evening.

Out of the total number of presidential aspirants who re-submitted their nomination forms to the commission on Tuesday, as ordered by the Supreme Court, six of them failed to meet the requirements for the second time.

They are the Great Consolidated Popular Party's (GCPP), Dr Henry Lartey, Hassan Ayariga of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Akua Donkor of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Kofi Apaloo of Independent Peoples Party, Nana Agyenim Boateng of United Front Party (UFP) and independent aspirant Kwame Asiedu Walker. 

The United Development Systems Party (UDSP), Nixon Tetteh and the Democratic People's Party's (DPP), T.N. Ward Brew could not re-submit their nomination forms because of some challenges.

Others such as the Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD), Kwabena Adjei and Akwasi Addae Odike of the United Progressive Party (UPP) pulled out of the race.
