Nana Konadu commiserates with Asantehene

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has visited Kumasi to commiserate with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the death of the Asantehemaa.

The Asantehemaa, Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II died about a week ago and it was all cultural pomp and pageantry as the NDP team, which included the running mate of Nana Konadu, Mr Kojo Mensah Sosu, were ushered in.

Present to also sympathise with the Asantehene were former President John Agyekum Kufuor, a former Chief of Staff, Mr Kojo Mpiani, and a host of other dignitaries.

The Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Ms Adwoa Sarfo was also present, as well as the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Andy Osei Okrah, who led a team from the Regional Coordinating Council and the Regional Security Council.

Amidst dirges, Asanteman extolled their queenmother, while all visitors presented the customary drinks.

The visit also coincided with the celebration of the Akwasidae,which was commemorated on low key because of the passing away of the Asantehemaa.

From Manhyia, Nana Konadu visited the Efigya Kwabre South Constituency where she interacted with Nana Acheampong II and Nana Kofi Boateng before a durbar of the chiefs and people.

The chiefs were thankful for her efforts in getting electricity to the town, a market and school.

With a strong support base in the constituency, supporters sang out her placement on the ballot sheet, "Eye two, eye direct."

Nana Konadu, for her part, asked for their support in winning the presidential slot.

Her first stop in Kumasi was New Amakom where she interacted with party officials.
