Nana Kofi Anyikor is not Omanhene of Kajaji — Traditional Council
Nana Kofi Anyikor, the man who is alleged to have masterminded the police recruitment scam at Kajaji in the Brong Ahafo Region, is not the Omanhene of Kajaji, the Nkomi-Kajaji Traditional Council has indicated.

The Kyidomhene of the Nkomi-Kajaji Traditional Area, Nana Krunku Osore Sunkwa II, who made this known to the Daily Graphic, said the suspect in the recruitment scam, known in private life as Mr Richard Attu, was rather one of the nominees for the vacant stool of Omanhene of Kajaji.
Nana Sunkwa explained that Nana Anyikor, the suspect, was contesting the position of paramount chief with Nana Bekealso, the nominee from the Keleta Royal Family of Nkomi-Kajaji.
“The stool has been vacant for the past seven years after the death of the Paramount Chief, Nana Kwabena Effeda II. The two families have been litigating for the occupancy of the vacant stool at the Judicial Committee of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs. Therefore the said Nana Anyikor cannot be regarded as the paramount chief,” he indicated.
The act condemned
Nana Sunkwa condemned the crime alleged to have been committed by Nana Anyikor and said it was a “dent on the image of the traditional council and the chieftaincy institution”.
He, therefore, urged the appropriate law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with anyone found to have facilitated the alleged crime.
Nana Sunkwa added that the profile of individuals being recruited into the Ghana Police Service (GPS) ought to be properly scrutinised and stringent measures put in place to check infiltration by criminal elements.
Background
The Daily Graphic carried a front page story titled: “Chief Wanted for Involvement in Police Recruitment Scam” in its August 17, 2016 edition, describing Nana Anyikor as the Omanhene of the Kajaji Traditional Area.
Nana Anyikor is alleged to have collected thousands of Ghana cedis from about 60 prospective police recruits with the promise to secure them enlistment into the Ghana Police Service.
The Sunyani Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant for his arrest for defrauding by false pretence. He is, however, yet to be apprehended by the police.
