MTN donates to La Traditional Council towards 2017 Homowo

Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) Ghana Monday presented a cheque of GHc5, 000, airtime worth GHc 500.00 and a hamper of assorted drinks to the Paramount Chief of La Traditional Area, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III at the La Traditional Council in Accra.

The gesture was to support the celebration of the 2017 Homowo festival.

Presenting the items, the Customer Relation Executive of MTN Ghana, Mrs JemIma Kotei-Walsh, said the donation was to celebrate the heritage of the Ga people as part of the company’s effort to reach out to their numerous customers in La.

She said MTN will support the organisation of the La Homowo carnival and some social activities throughout the festive period in order to make the occasion a memorable one.

It will also carry out data activation throughout the festive period at vantage points to give customers an experiential feel of the benefits of its internet and data services which include 4G LTE services.

“We hope our support in these areas would help make the celebration a grand one, she remarked.

To highlight the customs and traditions of the Ga people, she encouraged participants of the festival to share pictures and memories of the celebrations with their families and friends through WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms available.

She said as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), MTN will continue to invest in sustainable projects that will improve the lives of the people in the communities in which it operates.

The Mankralo of the La traditional area, Nii Obodai Adai IV who received the items on behalf of the La Mantse, thanked the company for the gesture and called on other corporate organisations to support activities towards the festival.

The La Mankralo said the donation will go a long way to aid the cost of activities towards the celebration.
