MP donates to Agona East NDC

The Member of Parliament for the Agona East constituency in the Central Region, Mrs Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr has presented two ambulances, 500 plastic chairs and a set of brass band instruments to the NDC party executive in the constituency.

The items, which were funded personally by the MP, are  to be used to raise funds to support the activities of the party in the area.

One of the ambulances would be stationed at Agona Kwanyako Health Centre to serve its environs and the other would be positioned at the Nsaba Health Centre to attend to the needs of the people in the area and its surrounding communities.

It would be managed by three constituency executive members together with three health officials led by Dr Kenneth Mensah.

The brass band would also be played by a group of individuals whose services could be hired events like funerals and floats.

Branch executives and other executive members of the party who hire the services of the items would pay half of the normal amount.

Handover

At a hand over ceremony at Agona Nsaba, Mrs Pokuah Sawyerr indicated that the initiative was to help the party in the constituency to raise regular income to fund the activities of the party.

According to her, she intends to raise enough funds to support the activities of all the 99 branches of the party in the constituency in order to make the party more attractive and visible in the area.

She noted that as the leader of the party in the constituency, she would continue to resource it to enhance its electoral fortunes in the 2016 general elections.

She explained that the district had no ambulance, which compelled the people to travel to Agona Swedru to have access to such services and added that the move was to enable her constituents to have ready access to ambulance services. 

Needs of the area

She told the people that she was aware of their needs and working very hard to address some of their needs in her first tenure in office.

She urged the people to rally behind her and not to be too partisan since it was only through unity that the district could achieve its desired development.

Interaction with BECE candidates

She disclosed that  1603 candidates had prepared for this year’s BECE examinations and that provided them a free meal daily throughout the examination period as a means to motivate them to pass the exams.

She added that all the candidates in her constituency would also be provided with a mathematical set each to fully equip them for the upcoming examinations.

The Agona East District Chief Executive, Mr Francis Duodu Addo commended the MP for her intervention as it would make the party stronger in the constituency.

He noted that the party was poised towards working hard to retain the parliamentary and the presidency in 2016.
