MP constructs boreholes for Gbankor
Residents of Gbankor in the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region have been provided with two boreholes.

The boreholes, constructed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, Mr Alban Bagbin, is to avert a possible water crisis in the community, following the malfunctioning of the existing borehole.
Initially, the MP had wanted to build a mechanised water system but members of the community asked for manually operated boreholes, citing cost of electricity and maintenance as reasons for their preference.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the assembly member of Gbankor, Mr Romanus Kaminta, commended Mr Bagbin for his assistance.
He said residents of the community faced difficulties in accessing potable water when the existing boreholes broke down.
“Only one borehole had been functioning since 2015, and indigenes, numbering up to 1,500, formed endless queues daily to get water from it, “he said.
Other beneficiaries
Mr Kaminta said although the community contributed money to repair one of the malfuctioning boreholes, it was unable to supply all of the residents with water.
According to him, Gbankor was not the only community to have benefited from the MP’s intervention.
Other communities, including Santana, Kaleo, Nadowli, and Sombo, have also benefited from similar interventions from Mr Bagbin.
Other projects
Mr Kaminta said Mr Bagbin also constructed a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in 2012.
“Under the MP’s watch, the people of Gbankor have also enjoyed development facilities such as street lights, the construction of a junior and senior high school, an eight-bedroom teachers’ quarters, a library, as well as the provision of electricity to these learning facilities. The community also boasts a new feeder road connecting Paali to Gbankor,” he said.
