On a visit to the area, the minister met Mr Salam who was busy at work, voluntarily constructing fish ponds for a prospective fish farmer.

While presenting the bike, Ms Ayittey said Mr Salam’s  example was worthy of emulation.

She said the ministry would continue to support hardworking men and women in the fisheries sector.

The minister added that her ministry would carry out the expansion of the aquaculture sector and the fisheries industry, since the sector plays a major role in the economy of the country.

According to Ms Ayittey, the motive for donating the motorbike was to enable Mr Salam to reach out to more communities.

Ms Ayittey urged the youth in the area to engage in voluntary services as a means of improving their communities.

Mr Salam thanked the minister for the support and promised to use the bike for the intended purpose.
