Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the immediate past Presiding Bishop of the church, Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante reminded the leadership of the Church to submit to service and not to lord-over their members.

He said leadership positions have created confusions in some countries, churches, political parties, marriages and the society in general.

Prof Asante said Christians must be encouraged by the teachings of Christ and stand against acts that retard the nation’s developmental efforts, explaining that, the inability of most people to uphold truth and righteousness had greatly hindered initiatives aimed at improving conditions of people.

He explained that, "unless Ghanaians changed their attitude and uphold the truth, stand by the truth and be prepared to die for the truth as was exhibited by Christ, we cannot transform our generation."

He also advised the church members to rally behind the new Bishop and his executives to enable them discharge their functions effectively.

A new lay chairperson, Sister Paulina Osabutey was also inducted into office. The ceremony was under the theme "The Christian concept of leadership.''

The Presiding Bishop of Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Titus K. Awotwi Pratt who was the special guest of honour urged Christians to let the world see a change in them.

He emphasized that; the aggression, pay-him-back attitude, cheating and pride give way to destruction.

He added that, it is only through the spirit of forgiveness, honesty and humility that people can see and appreciate these distinctive and admirable qualities in us that we could positively influence changes in society.

According to the Presiding Bishop, peace, respect, tolerance and understanding must rule in the hearts of Ghanaians as we prepare for elections next month.

He pointed out that, ethnicity and tribalism both in the political arena and in churches were tearing the nation apart and said we should come together as true Ghanaians to build our nation.

The Nkawkaw Diocesan Bishop,  Rt. Rev. John De-Graft Priddy in his speech thanked the leadership of the church for the honour and assured that he and his able leaders will work hard to bring more development to the church.
