The Right Reverend Prof. Osei Safo-Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has called on Ghanaians to come together to turn the ailing economy around.

He said it was crucial that Ghanaians made adequate use of their creative abilities given to them by their creator to fix the difficulties they currently faced and transform the economy.

The Rt Rev. Prof. Safo Kantanka was speaking at the unveiling ceremony of a plaque on a manse  built by the Walterworth Memorial Society in the Atwima-Mponua District at Mpasatia. He called for an end to what he described as,  “the overly politicisation of almost every issue of national concern”.

That, he said, was unhealthy and counterproductive to development.

He underscored the need for a master plan or blueprint for national development to which all must work towards.

The Rt Rev. Prof. Safo-Kantanka criticised the situation in which some people simply chose to stay on the sidelines, satisfied either in complacency or cynicism, and said it was important that all hands were brought on deck.

He further called for greater collaboration between the state and the church to promote the growth of the country.

The Synod Secretary of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, the Very Rev. Christopher Nyarko Adam, hailed the contribution of the Waterworth Memorial Society to the growth of Methodism and the spread of the gospel.

The diocese, he said, had produced a number or reverend ministers, evangelists, catechists and stewards for the church over the past 100 years.

He said ever since it was upgraded to a circuit, the diocese had assisted in establishing many churches and won converts to the faith.

Rev. Nyarko Adam, therefore, asked the society to continue to sustain its drive in evangelism.

Very Rev. Samuel Asante Nnuro, the Circuit Superintendent of the Methodist Church, in a brief history of the church project said construction work began two years ago.
