Man in police grip for impersonating Bishop Obinim
A young woman who thought she was acting under the spiritual direction of Bishop Daniel Obinim, the General Overseer of the International Godsway Church, has been swindled by a man who allegedly impersonated the pastor.

The victim, whose name has been withheld by the police, is said to have initially rejected the love proposal of the suspect whom she met on Facebook.
According to police accounts, the suspect, identified as Felix Tetteh-fio, is said to have sent a friend’s request to the victim using his original Facebook account in 2015.
Love proposal
Briefing journalists, the Director of Operations at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Felix Mawusi, said after a number of correspondences between the two, Tetteh-fio proposed love to the victim, which she turned down.
He said investigations established that after close to a year of persistently trying to woo the victim without success, Tetteh-fio decided to exploit the overdependence of some people on the spiritual directive of pastors and lured the victim to accept his proposal.
Thus, Tetteh-fio, after discovering that the victim was a member of the International Godsway Church, created another Facebook account with the name and photograph of Bishop Obinim and sent a friend request to the victim which she accepted.
Subsequently, Mr Mawusi said, Tetteh-fio, through the fake Bishop Obinim’s Facebook account, started giving spiritual directives to the victim to accept his proposal, which she did.
He said Tetteh-fio then took advantage to swindle the victim of GH¢4,000 and also took a laptop valued at GH¢2,000 from her, under the pretext of marrying her.
Friends find out
Unknown to the victim, Tetteh-fio used the same modus operandi to collect GH¢4,000 from her friend. The two women found out they had been fooled and duped by Tetteh-fio during a conversation between them about their boyfriends and they made a report to the police.
Mr Mawusi said Tetteh-fio was consequently arrested and he admitted the offence in his statement to the police.
