Made-In-Ghana products fair to take place in Italy

The 2016 edition of the Made-in-Ghana Products Fair and Business Forum, to be held in Palermo in Sicily, Italy, has been slated for October 5 to 9.

The fair, which has the theme: ‘’Blue Sea Land Expo,’’ is an annual event aimed at showcasing and exposing Ghanaian products and businesses to international markets.

It is expected that Ghanaian companies at the fair would have the opportunity to partner with companies from other parts of the world such as Asia, Europe and the Mediterranean which will also be participating in the event.

Through the seminars, meetings, conferences, expos and cultural events that would be held, the fair is expected to strengthen cooperation among participating countries and promote economic, social, institutional and cultural integration among participants and attendees.

This year’s event is being organised and promoted by Doulos Consult Limited, a business communications company based in Ghana, in collaboration with some international companies and organisations, including the Rotary International.

Products that would be exhibited at the fair would include various types of fruits, cereals, poultry and dairy products, beef,  fish and wine.

Launch

The fair was launched in Accra by Mr Ben Kwesi Taylor, an entrepreneur and business mogul. He was assisted by the Deputy Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Dr Lorenzo Pinelli.

Dr Pinelli said the Italian government would be pleased to receive various businesses and companies from across the globe, including Ghana, at the expo.

In an interview, Mr Wakefield Ackuaku, the Business Development Manager for the fair, said the fair was basically an agro and fisheries fair.

According to him, countries and companies that would be exhibiting at the event would have the opportunity of showcasing their products to the world.

“It is hoped that the 2016 Made-in-Ghana Products Fair and Business Forum would encourage economic collaboration between Ghanaian and Italian businesses to seek partnerships, markets, funding and technology transfer to grow both the Ghanaian and Italian economy.

“Since Ghana has signed onto the interim Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), companies would have to comply with certain standards in order to be competitive on the international market, so this is a platform that would enable them to prepare adequately for it,” he said.

He said the expo would be a good platform for start-ups and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in the country.

He entreated companies in the country to get involved “in this mega and explosive show.”
