Labadi Beach Hotel adjudged Best 5-Star Hotel in Ghana

Labadi Beach Hotel once again consolidated its lead in the hospitality industry by winning the Five-Star Hotel of the Year category award at the 12th National Tourism Awards. The awards organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority was to reward and celebrate industry players who have excelled in promoting the hospitality and tourism industry.

A citation presented to the hotel by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, read, “Labadi Beach Hotel was the trailblazer when it began operating as Ghana’s first five (5) Star establishments. Over the years, the hotel has maintained its commitment to service excellence and high customer satisfaction endearing itself to its many domestic and international patrons. It has served as the preferred residence of many visiting dignitaries and Heads of State.’’

Receiving the award, the Financial Controller of the hotel, Mr Charles Njeru, said that was the fourth time the hotel had won Five-Star Hotel of the Year since the awards scheme was instituted.

He said the facility which celebrated its silver jubilee anniversary recently boasted 164 rooms, two presidential suites, state-of-the-art conference rooms, spa facilities and leisure pool.

At the event, Mrs Ofosu Adjare called for the promotion of domestic tourism among the youth of the country. She pointed out that there was a huge domestic tourist market that was yet to be tapped.

“In Ghana, tourism is a major pillar of the economy and expected to be one of the key drivers of our socio-economic transformation through the creation of jobs, foreign exchange receipts, urban regeneration and the stimulation of local manufacturing to meet diverse needs of the economy,” she stated.
