Municipal hospital

Accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Saaka Dramani and other engineers, the MCE first inspected the ongoing municipal hospital estimated to cost GHc575,918.77 and being financed from the District Development Fund (DDF).

At the hospital, the Municipal Engineer, Mr Richard R.O. Asante, who conducted the MCE and his team round the project, explained that when completed, the hospital would have one private and four general wards, 10 consulting rooms, a theatre, emergency centres and offices.

Mr Anku told journalists that when completed, the hospital would bring relief to the staff and clients since it would replace the existing one, which was currently being operated in containers.

The Acting Municipal Health Director, Mrs Priscilla Anima Siaw, said she was excited and could not wait to see it completed.

Otinibi M/A Basic School

At the Otinibi M/A Basic School, the MCE was satisfied with the progress of work on the three-unit classroom block, which is being constructed for the pre-school children, who currently attend classes under trees.

He said the project was being financed at the cost of GH¢213,394.04 from the assembly’s internally generated fund (IGF) and added that the assembly always ensured that they had value for money on all its projects.
Kweiman Basic School

However, at the Kweiman Basic School, where the assembly was supervising the construction of a six-classroom block, the MCE urged the municipal engineer to ensure that the contractors met the deadline.
The six-classroom block, estimated at GH¢289,872.05, would include washrooms and teachers common room.

Sakora Main Road

Inspecting the 0.75km-road at Sakora, Mr Anku said he was satisfied with the seriousness the contractor attached to the work, adding, “Just one month into the contract, they have done so much.”

The one-year Government of Ghana (GoG) funded contract with a face value of GH¢1,457979.20 entails the construction of drains, gravelling and application of bitumen.

The Resident Engineer of the project, Mr Baah Tetteh, gave an assurance that the contract would be executed to specification and within schedule, adding that currently, it was 40 per cent complete.
