There is also less traffic in the central business district of the Ashanti Regional capital as people remain indoors awaiting the Electoral Commission (EC) to announce the results of this year’s elections.

Instead, many New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful are seen in groups and at various pubs drenched in party colours tooting miniature ‘vuvuzelas’ and celebrating what appears unassailable lead by the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Coupled with an overwhelming majority in the next parliament, the Ashanti region, especially those in Kumasi and Obuasi, are basking in an uncontrollable joy as they await the EC’s confirmation of the results.

Most market women are all in NPP party colours as many more youth taunt their opponents, NDC, without any provocation.

It has been two days of brisk business for market women in Kumasi, mostly selling NPP paraphernalia as there is scramble for the items.

Indeed, this election saw one of the biggest turnouts in the region where both the old and the young came out in their numbers to vote.
