Kumasi High School appeals for government’s support

The Assistant Headmaster of the Kumasi High School at Gyinyase in the Kumasi metropolis, Mr George Amponsah-Duodu, has appealed to the government to help the old students of the school to put up an assembly hall.

He said the school, which was built in 1964, did not have an assembly hall and had to use its dining hall for meetings and programmes that needed a hall and pointed out that the situation tended to damage the tables and chairs as they had to be shifted whenever the hall had to be converted into an assembly hall.

Appeal

Mr Amponsah-Duodo made the appeal when the 1995 SSS Year Group of the school handed over a car park for the school on Wednesday.

He said each year group had already committed itself to contributing towards the construction of the school assembly hall and appealed to the government to support the old students to achieve this.

On behalf of management, he thanked the 1995 Year Group and appealed to them not to relent in their efforts to support the school.

He tasked the other year groups of the school to emulate the good works of the 1995 year group and to also contribute their widow’s mite to the development of their alma mater.

1995 Year Group

The Project Committee Chairman of the 1995 Year Group, Dr Gordon Opuni, said the group was formed about a year ago, and as part of its contributions to the development of the school, they decided to construct a decent car park for the administrators.

He stated that most of the members of the year group had reached their current position through the solid foundation they acquired from the education they had from the school, and the donation was their way of showing appreciation to the school.

According to Dr Opuni, “this is definitely not going to be the first and last support from us. We have just come together.

We will assess the needs of the school and find ways of meeting them to make life better for both staff and students.”
