The staff, who had worked at the institution for 15 years and above, received citations and undisclosed sums of money.

In an address, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Mrs Smile Gavua Dzisi, said the award was one of the many incentive policies of the polytechnic, as part of its employee retention and motivation strategy, to retain skilled and technical knowledge that the polytechnic had nurtured and developed over the years.

Best practices
She said the polytechnic would continue to invest in "everyone's career development while we also need to ensure that we continuously adopt within our work environment, models of best practices which will make us deliver our work better, more efficiently and also make us achieve better results all the time".

She entreated the award winners to adopt a customer-oriented approach in their various offices in their quest to rebrand the polytechnic for mutual benefit.

Growth
She said despite the numerous challenges encountered, such as the power crisis being experienced on campus, the polytechnic had grown much stronger than it was 18 years ago.

"While acknowledging the contribution of our friends in the media to our growth, we plead with them to cross-check every piece of information received, with the Public Relations Officer; we are committed to becoming a leading polytechnic and we will continue to seek opportunities to grow and develop in ways that are significant to our progress," she added.

Commendation
Professor Dzisi commended the award winners for playing a significant role in the development of the institution and creating a culture of excellence among the staff.

A representative of the awardees, Mr Ishmael Duah, thanked the polytechnic for the honour done them and pledged that the awards would spur them on to work harder harder.
