The annual event will be celebrated from November 7 to 14, 2016.

The council has, therefore, described a publication in the October 3, 2016 edition of the Daily Graphic with the heading  “Kloyosikplemi Festival cannot be celebrated’’ as false and should be disregarded.

“We have even published the week long line-up of activities on page 50 of the October 27 edition of the Daily Graphic, a leading newspaper, and that shows our readiness,” the council indicated.

Statement

In a press statement signed by Nene Ayertey Ayiborku, Djasetse Tetteh Aplerku, Asafoatsengua Kwawisi Ankra, Asafoatse Nertey Duamro, Asafoatse Narh Korli, Asafoatse Blaso Boafo, and Asafoatse Tetteh Odompleh from the Yilo Division and copied to the media, it said: ‘’We wish to state categorically that the Kloyosikplemi Festival for the chiefs and people of Yilo Krobo will be celebrated this year with pomp and circumstance as scheduled.’’

The statement explained that the festival was an annual event that reflected the customs and practices of the people of Yilo Krobo.

The statement added that the person who was behind the postponements of the festival last year was the one who caused public announcement for the celebration of the festival this year beginning with the outreach programme which was fully attended by all the divisions in the Yilo State.

Denial

The council said it was not true that Nene Tetteh Agblezee III, the Divisional Chief of Plau, the alleged architect of the said publication which indicated that the festival would not come off, had contacted all the chiefs he claimed were part of the plan to cancel the celebration of the festival.

According to the statement, Nene Aklo Saki II, the Divisional Chief of Ogome, who was mentioned in the said story, has allegedly denied any knowledge of the publication.

‘’The Yilo Krobo Traditional Council that is vested with traditional authority over the Yilo State is emphatically saying that the 2016 Kloyosikplemi festival will be celebrated without any hindrance. We, therefore, welcome Yilo citizens both home and abroad and friends of Yilo State to join us in the celebrations,’’ the statement added.
