Kintampo tragedy victims, bereaved families receive support
A United States-based church, Divine Word Ministries, has presented $13,000 to the bereaved families of students of the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School who died in the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster on March 19, 2017.

The Founder and General Overseer of the church, Bishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng, accompanied by some members of the church in Ghana, made the cash presentation to the bereaved families in addition to assorted items to students and staff of the school.
The church also presented $1,000 for the upkeep of the injured students, who are currently receiving treatment at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
Fifteen students out of 67 who were on an excursion at the Kintampo Waterfalls on that fateful day perished when they were crushed by a tree which fell during a rainstorm.

Presenting the amount, Bishop Boateng said the church shared the sorrows and pain of the school and the bereaved families hence the donation.
“We have brought you a message of hope and encouragement that nothing can ever substitute your loss but the love of God. do not be discouraged for we are with you.”
Bishop Boateng appealed to the government to make sure that the necessary safety measures were put in place at all tourist sites in the country to avert the occurrence of similar disasters in future.
He promised to speak to his partners in the United States so that a library complex would be constructed at the school in memory of the deceased students.
“In future we should organise an exchange programme with some high schools in the US and the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School,” he added.
Bishop Boateng and his team prayed for the school and urged the staff and students to put their faith in God and believe that he was in charge of their lives.
Headmaster
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Foster Antwi Boateng, who received the money and the items on behalf of the school and the bereaved families, thanked Bishop Boateng and members of his church for their gesture.
“Your visit and donation is a miraculous gesture”, he said, and called for prayers and encouragement to enable the students to continue with their education without fear.
