Karaga District Assembly overtaken by weeds

The premises of the Karaga District Assembly in the Northern Region have been overtaken by weeds and shrubs.

Despite a bold sign post with the inscription,  “Community Life Improvement Programme (CLIP) Sanitation Market, Karaga District” that welcomes visitors to the assembly premises, it does not appear that the import of the sign post has dawned on the district administration.

Some of the weeds were gradually creeping into the offices of the assembly, some having attained maturity as they bore flowers.

Visit

During a visit to the assembly on Friday, August 26, this year, it was observed that the car park where vehicles belonging to the assembly had been parked were equally not spared from the weeds.

A 2016 registered  the assembly, with the registration number, GR 6089-16 was also parked in the weeds.

Some of the assembly’s old vehicles had weeds growing in them.

The only ambulance belonging to the district, with registration number GS 8402-11 parked at the premises, was also not spared.

A member of staff  who spoke to the Daily Graphic on condition of anonymity said it was worrying that the assembly had sanitation officers but had done nothing about the situation.

“My brother, sometimes I feel ashamed working here, how can the district assembly be left in such a state?”, he queried.

According to a source, it appeared nobody in the assembly cared about the sanitation situation at the assembly’s premises, noting “we all live in filth here”.

Affected areas

None of the buildings at the assembly premises was spared.

However, the worst affected building is the District Works Department (DWD).

The back of the DWD is overgrown with weeds , some of which are creeping into the building.

The entire surroundings of the urinal is also overgrown with weeds and users  walk through the overgrown weeds to access the facility.

“I have stopped using this urinal because I don’t want any snake to bite me”, another worker said.

Again, the assembly’s, Samiva Electrical Plant is surrounded by weeds.
