The company, which also deals in earthmoving, forestry and mobile crane services, says its aim is to reduce customers’ cost of doing business in Ghana and Africa by providing quality machines to the sectors.

At the inauguration of its office in Takoradi, the company announced that not only would it make equipment available but would also offer quality maintenance team with necessary spare parts on hand to ensure quick service and continuous operation.

Support

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr Stephen Smithyman, said the company was founded on integrity and would only distribute quality branded products, “Where we have the necessary support and back up to respond timeously to our customers’ needs.”

In the Western Region, he said their plan was to turn the region into a central market for Ground Engaging Tools (GET), undercarriage and engine spare parts hub to service Accra and Dunkwa, as well as neighbouring countries more efficiently.

“We believe that the demand for spares parts in the Western Region and neighbouring countries are ever-increasing and to live true to our company’s promise of “Experience the Support”: we need to deliver more speedily to achieve that,” he said.  The region, he said, had a large number of earthmoving machines and through its newly available, comprehensive range of spare parts in Takoradi “we can support those machines and reduce our customers cost per tonne of earth moved.”

Customers

The company, Mr Smithyman said, was very much aware of the needs of the modern day customer who demanded high value for money. With its high spare part availability, world-class maintenance team, large rental fleet and faster delivery time, he believed that Kanu would serve the requirements of its clients most effectively.

He said that currently, the company supplied a range of equipment and spare parts from Liebherr, Bell, Finlay, TigerCat and CTP for mining operations.

In other areas, Mr Smithyman said that construction, agriculture and road maintenance machines were also available and that the company was excited to represent world- class brands in Ghana, supplying aftermarket Caterpillar spares and ground engaging tools and undercarriage suitable for all makes of earth- moving machines.

Sustainability, he said was one of the main focuses of every business operation and since Kanu’s business model had adopted a multi-faceted approach, not only was the focus on top of the range machine sales but also investing in the future growth of its customers by reducing their cost of doing business.

Rent-to-buy

To develop and ensure other businesses remain in business, the company offers a wide range of highly available replacement parts for all makes of machinery. “We have a rent-to-buy policy in place and we offer finance options adapted to individual customer’s needs.”

At the ceremony, customers, who spoke to the Daily Graphic, said that some of their biggest challenges were availability of equipment and the ability of the supplier to provide support services.

As evidence of this, there are several machines in the region that are not functioning due to the unavailability of support from the suppliers who are offshore.

With the emergence of Kanu Equipment’s wide range of spare parts backed by excellent service, it would go a long way to support their operations in the region and the country with offices now in Dunkwa, Accra and Takoradi.

The customers were taken on a tour of the new premises where they were shown equipment on display, parts and workshop area. Various package options were explained in answer to their queries.

It was concluded that the event was an overall success and the Managing Directors, Lara Ray Vink and Brian Shinnick said that they would look forward to any opportunity to introduce customers to Kanu Equipment in Ghana.
