Kaneshie Polyclinic gets new facilities

The Kaneshie Polyclinic has inaugurated two newly constructed facilities as part of efforts to expand operations to boost health delivery in the area.

They are an 18-bed air-conditioned ward named after the Medical Director of the facility, Dr Patrick Amo-Mensah, and one-storey health and information office constructed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi, Mr Ahmed Arthur.

With the addition of the new ward, the polyclinic now has a total of 32 beds. Hitherto, the polyclinic, which receives about 400 patients a day, had 14 beds, excluding those at the maternity ward.

Citation

A citation read by the Administrator of the polyclinic, Mr Yakubu M. Amidu Kangre, said Dr Amo-Mensah’s management saw the introduction of blood transfusion, ultrasound and a 24-hour seven days a week laboratory services. Moreover, there was also the revamping of pharmaceutical services at the polyclinic.

“It is also worthy of note that under his distinguished stewardship, networking skills, diplomacy, persuasiveness and relentless appeal to corporate organisations and philanthropists have brought significant support for the Kaneshie Polyclinic,” he quoted the citation as saying.

Mr Kangre also mentioned the construction of a one-storey building structure, the provision of an ambulance and an industrial washing machine by the Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South Constituency, Mr Arthur.

A philanthropist also provided a 100 kVA generator, while the Accra Metropolitan Assembly presented a 60 kVA generator to the hospital.

Recognition

Mr Kangre further indicated that it was in “recognition of Dr Amo-Mensah’s track record and sterling performances (as well as to motivate him to continue his able leadership) that management at its meeting held on June 7, 2016 unanimously resolved to name the newly constructed recovery ward after him.”
