It's truly upsetting - Duncan-Williams speaks on deadly Goil station fire

The Founder of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Wliiams, has expressed his condolences to the families of about 100 people who died in a the deadly Goil filling station fire at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra Wednesday.

In a Facebook message Thursday, Archbishop Duncan-Williams described the disaster as “truly upsetting”.

“My heart goes out to all the families and loved ones who lost someone dear to them on this day. My prayer is that we may come together as a nation and pray for all who were affected by this tragedy.. Truly upsetting,” he said.

It is not clear what started the fire that completely destroyed the filling station next to the GCB Bank Circle Tower branch, and also burnt several houses and shops, but eyewitnesses suspect fuel-laden floods could have imported the fire which trapped many who had sought refuge from torrential rains that cut off several communities from major roads.

The floods have also destroyed property across the country and in the capital in particular, leading to the death of dozens of people.
