This followed the signing of a distribution agreement between Inesfly and Solvochem, an international group of distribution and trading companies in Eastern Africa.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) held in Nairobi, Kenya, recently which was attended by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Chief Executive Officer of Inesfly Africa Ltd, Mr Michael Sjodin, later briefed the President about the agreement.

Under the agreement, Solvochem would distribute Inesfly’s products in the vast East African market.

Inesfly Africa, which is a subsidiary of Interplast Limited, wants to tap into the rapidly growing African market with the objective of  combating malaria and other vector-borne diseases in that region using Inesfly products.

Inesfly Africa is the manufacturer of a number of products, including  'Inesfly paint’ used in fighting malaria.

Mr Sjodin explained that the paint was capable of preventing the invasion of mosquitoes for at least two years in any place where the paint was applied.

About 90 per cent of malaria deaths occur in Africa, and it is the company's objective to  contribute positively in reducing the incidence of the disease.

Beneficiary countries

The agreement with Solvochem meant that East African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda, would have access to the Inesfly’s insecticide paints and other products.

Mr Sjodin, who signed the agreement for his company, told journalists in Accra that the company was determined to maintain a strong presence in Africa.

He commended President Mahama for his positive response to the company’s East African move.

Stressing the effectiveness of the company's products, he said, "Inesfly Africa uses an effective and proven technology from Europe for the control of vector-borne endemic diseases which include, malaria, yellow fever and dengue that affect half of the world’s population."

He said the Director of Solvochem in-charge of Africa, Mr Zeiad Flouty, was also happy about the he collaboration with  Inesfly.

Mr Sjodin said Solvochem gave the assurance that they would use their strong distribution network to boost Inesfly’s objective.
