Inesfly Africa supports 10 health centres
An insect-control paint company is painting 10 community-based health planning services (CHPS) compounds in 10 districts in the Greater Accra Region for free.

The facilities are located in Adedetsekope in Ada East, Madavunu in Ada West, Anyaa in Ga Central, Otsrikomfo in Ga West and Asuom Osofo Lamptey in Ga South.
The rest are Appollonia in Kpone Katamanso, Nyigbenya in Ningo Prampram, Natrigu in Shai and Apenkwa in the Accra Metro.
Inesfly Africa Limited announced this commitment at a joint durbar with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in Accra.
The CSR
The durbar was dubbed: “Health Improvement through Insect and Vector Control.”
Painting the 10 CHPS compounds with the insecticide paint forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) for 2017 and its commitment to improve the quality of health delivery in the health facilities.
According to a survey conducted by the company, the CHPS compounds were not only in a deplorable state but were also breeding insect pests, ironically infesting more people with vector transmitted diseases instead of being the safe havens they were supposed to be.
Insect infestation
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Inesfly Africa Limited, Mr Michael Sjodin, said there was the need for all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in order to fight the infestation of insect vectors in health facilities.
“Inesfly, as an entity committed to ensuring pest-free lives, understands the urgency of the situation at hand, the enormity of the task ahead and the need for partnership with relevant stakeholders to nib the situation in the bud,” he said.
Mr Sjodin expressed the hope that the move by the company would draw the attention of all involved to fight against insect-pests collectively.
Commendation
For her part, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Health, Dr Linda Van Otoo, commended Inesfly Africa for the generous initiative, noting that it was a timely intervention.
“We as health personnel need to ensure that our clients are safe and do not risk picking one infection in the quest to treat another,” she said.
A community health nurse at the Otsirikomfo CHPS compound, Ms Salma Norga, expressed gratitude to the company for its kind gesture and added that “we are sure of a lasting solution to the problem of insect-pests here in our compound,” she said.
