The award is in recognition of his professional contribution to the media landscape, as well as the engineering domain. The fellow award, which is the highest recognition by ICEG, was conferred on him in his office in Accra last Wednesday.

The President of the ICEG, Professor Peter Tuffour Asubonteng FCE, presented a medal, a plaque and a certificate to him.

He also took Ing. Ashigbey through the oath of membership.

Citation

A citation presented to the MD read, “In today’s demanding and competitive business world, it takes more than brains and hard work to get along. Those who succeed have another quality in common; emotional intelligence.”

“Your high sense of purpose and responsibility, professionalism, emotional intelligence, excellence and tenacity have further enhanced and repositioned the reputation and brand of Graphic Communications Group Limited.”

“The skills and art of working in the business, working on the business, and working to transform businesses like Multi TV, Joy FM, Optimum Media Prime (OMP) and currently Graphic Communications Groups Limited deserve critical recommendation.”

“Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, your professional contribution to the media landscape, as well as in the engineering domain, coupled with product innovation and development capability, is highly appreciated.”

“The executive Governing Council of the Institute of Certified Economists of Ghana, recognising such remarkable achievements, salutes you and confers the highest grade “Fellow” on you. Indeed, you deserve to be called a genius.”

Humbled

In his acceptance speech, Ing. Ashigbey said he was humbled by the honour, which he dedicated to members of the GCGL.

Expressing gratitude for the honour done him, he said it was a call to contribute towards achieving the goals of ICEG.

He said the success story of GCGL had demonstrated that Ghanaians could contribute to the development of the nation when given the opportunity to do so.

He noted that the development of Ghana lay in the hands of professionals in the country and not politicians.

Ing.  Ashigbey, therefore, called on professional bodies in the country to think about how to contribute towards the growth of Ghana.

He urged them to live up to their professional ethics and apply the knowledge they had acquired to challenge policy initiatives, which he noted would ensure the progress of the nation.

Peaceful elections

The Chief Executive Officer of ICEG, Mr Daniel Anim Prempeh FCE, advocated a peaceful general election this year.

He also called on all stakeholders to put mechanisms in place to ensure free and fair elections, as it would be suicidal for the country to go back to past military regimes.

Present at the event were other leaders of the ICEG and the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh.
