He said Kumawu could progress only if there was oneness of purpose and harmonious relations among the people.

Barima Tweneboa Kodua gave the assurance when the Benkumhene and the Akwamuhene of the traditional area swore the oath of allegiance to him in his palace last Thursday.

The Benkumhene, known in private life as Acheamfour Adu Acheampong, 36, is a business executive. He is the Worasohene and succeeded Nana Kwaku Duah who died some years ago.

The Akwamuhene, Nana Kwarteng Amaning, 50, known in private life as Kwarteng Amaning Krapah, succeeded his uncle, Nana Akwasi  Baffoe II. He is a chartered accountant by profession and works with Union Oil Ghana in Kumasi.

According to Barima Tweneboa Kodua, because the traditional area was embroiled in litigation and chietaincy disputes, development had stalled, stressing that, that negative trend only bred disaffection and intolerance in the people.

He urged those who had money to dissipate to rather direct it into more productive ventures in the interest of the development of the traditional area.

He urged the two chiefs to bring their experiences and expertise on board to help push the development of the area forward.

He said he was development oriented and urged them to rally behind him, so that with concerted effort they could turn things around for the better.

He further asked them to ensure unity in their areas of jurisdiction and encourage their people to contribute towards the development of the Kumawu State.

Barima Tweneboa Kodua reminded them that "Kumawu is Asante and will continue to serve the Golden Stool, the Asantehene and Asanteman".

He said Kumawu was an integral part of the Asante Confederacy and it would, therefore, be suicidal for it to secede from Asante, adding, "Kumawuman’s loyalty to the Golden Stool and the Asantehene is absolute."
