‘I Can’t Think Far’ beckons all for peace

His prolific output sometimes  makes  people  assume writing and producing a play is an easy task, but Latif Abubakar says the process can be tedious and one must stay relevant at all times.

The relevant topic the playwright  and producer has chosen this time around is the December general elections and the new play,  ‘I Can’t Think Far’,  conveys a message on anger management and how it  contributes  to non-violence.

The play, his 10th production,  opens at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC)  on Sunday, November 6.

“The objective of the play which will be staged in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and Ho  is to help people curb violence by providing  them with the skills needed to control their anger,” the  writer said.

According to Latif Abubakar , journalists and several other people  within locations described as election hot spots  by the police will be given the opportunity to see the play for free.

The play features seasoned actors including Adjetey Annan and Ekow Smith-Asante. It will be staged at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi on November 12, Radach Hotel in Tamale on November 20, Akroma Plaza in Takoradi on November 26 and at the Ho Poly Auditorioum on December 2.

Latif Abubakar’s previous plays include ‘Mallams and Pastors’, ‘Thank God For Idiots’, ‘Gallery of Comedies’, ‘What Can Come Can Come’, ‘The Second Coming of Kwame Nkrumah’ and ‘Divorce or Suicide.’

“People only need to know how to control their anger, whether they are initially provoked  or not,  and we would have less violence. Election times are trying times and we hope all who see our play would do their best to avert  violence.”

‘I Can’t Think Far’ is produced by Globe Productions in partnership with Graphic Showbiz. The programme is sponsored by Star Ghana, Carnival Strawberry, Yomi Yoghurt and Unibank.
