In an interview with Accra based radio station, Joy FM on Wednesday evening after the Electoral Commission cleared her, Nana Konadu said it was an opportunity to build bridges and get her agenda into the public domain and to showcase to the people of Ghana what the NDP has.

She said the opportunity to be on the ballot was for the youth and indeed for everybody who feels disenfranchised in the country.

“It is a win for all of us…we have something for everybody, for the youth, for women, for the young and for the elderly,” she said.

On how she feels as the first woman presidential candidate in Ghana, Nana Konadu said: “…it is important for me to open doors for many other women to be there at some point or the other.”

“I am making sure that children of this country see women as an absolute part of national development," she said.

Asked whether her husband, former President John Rawlings will be on the campaign trail with her, Nana Konadu asked the interviewer, Dzifa Bampoe, “What is he[Rawlings] in NDC may I ask.

When Dzifa said he was the founder, Nana Konadu added: “if he [Rawlings] is not campaigning with them [NDC], there must be a reason. I don’t have to sell all my oranges in the market all the time, I can put it in a diplomatic shop,” she concluded.
