Gyamfi, Vinyo, Mortey to be crowned 2016 best farmers in cocoa, maize and agro-forestry

A farmer from Amadu Nkwanta in the Asunafo South District of the Brong Ahafo region, Mr Opoku Gyamfi is to be crowned as the 2016 National Best Farmer in cocoa.

Others expected to be awarded are Mr Kofi Vinyo of Odomase in the Sunyani West District of the Brong Ahafo Region, best national maize farmer and Mr Prosper Komla Mortey from Kpong in the Lower Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region, best Agro-forestry farmer of the year.

The national celebration of the 32nd Farmers’ Day is underway at Kintampo in Brong Ahafo with President John Dramani Mahama as the Guest of Honour.

More than 60 farmers are expected to be awarded during the function.

A list of awardees as contained in the brochure of the programme mentioned Messrs Opoku Gyamfi, Kofi Vinyo and Prosper Komla Mortey as best farmers in cocoa, maize and agro-forestry respectively.
