Graphic, Zoomlion to clean Adabraka Saturday

The exercise has been necessitated by the filth and garbage left in the wake of last Wednesday’s floods that caused fatalities and destroyed property worth billions of cedis in the Accra metropolis.

The choice of Adabraka, according to the Corporate Communications Manager of the GCGL, Mr Albert Sam, was in fulfilment of the company’s social responsibility goal of extending a helping hand to the community within which it operates and beyond.

He said the cleaning “is therefore our social activity to help rid Adabraka of debris, help assuage memories of the loss and restore some normalcy in the life of residents”.

He said the management of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) would be contacted for the provision of more water tankers to help with water supply to clean the debris left in homes after the floods at Adabraka.

The Communications Manager of Zoomlion Limited, Mr Robert Coleman, said all workers of the company in the sub-metro would participate in the exercise.

He indicated that the company planned to make available logistics and equipment, including compaction trucks, tipper trucks, wheel barrows, water tankers, wheel loaders, head pans, bola taxis and tricycles to help make the exercise a success.

Meanwhile, an implementation committee, made up of the representatives of the two institutions and the Adabraka Traditional Authorities, is in place to oversee the successful implementation of the exercise.

The exercise will begin at 6 a.m. and it is expected that more than 600 volunteers, made up of workers of GCGL, Zoomlion Limited and residents of Adabraka, will participate.
