The GIBA Executive Council was led by the President, Akwasi Agyeman, the Vice President, Samuel Attah-Mensah and the other Council Members, Stephen Ato Eshun, Andrew Danso-Aninkora, George Fausta Baffoe, as well as the Executive Secretary, Kwasi Owusu Asare.

The EC Chair received the team with Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, Alhaji Amadu Sulley and Deputy Commissioner in charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs Georgina Opoku Amankwa.

The meeting by the GIBA Executives was to welcome the newly appointed and first female Commissioner of the Electoral Commission to her new position.

The President of the Association assured her and her team of the continued support of GIBA to the Electoral Commission in their pursuit of their national mandate and promised an even deeper and stronger collaboraton than had existed before since ‘we are all stakeholders in this’.

He said there was the need for stronger collaboration for members of the media to understand the key issues in the electoral process beyond that provided by radio commercials and thought there was the need to further engage on air persons for them to understand the key issues even as we go into an election year in 2016.

The EC Chair, Mrs Charlotte Osei stated her appreciation of the show of support and acknowledged that even as Chair of the NCCE she had worked closely with GIBA. She said that engaging deeply with the publics and shareholders was of high importance to her to ensure a high level of transparency in the operations of the Commission and so welcomed a close engagement with GIBA as the way to go. She was glad to have GIBA as ‘a strategic partner’ in this endeavour.
