The items included bags of rice, cooking oil, cartons of milk, soap, tins of Milo and toiletries. The items were received by the girls’ prefect of the school.

The commodities were presented on behalf of the group by the President of the association, Mr Thomas Asante, and the Financial Secretary, Mr Samuel Aniakwah, who were in the country for the Easter festivities.

Mr Asante said the association decided to make the donation to commemorate the association’s inauguration which came off in December last year.

“We have many Ghanaian associations in Ohio with different objectives. Ours is a charitable organisation geared towards helping the needy and the disadvantaged in Ghana,” Mr Asante said.

The Headmistress of the school, Madam Mahela Narh, on behalf of the management of the school and students, expressed her gratitude for the  goodwill done the school by the association.

She said the donation was timely as it had come at a time when the school was in need of food.

She, therefore, used the occasion to appeal to other charitable institutions and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.
