Gemany honours Executive Director of Westphalian Village

The German government has honoured the Executive Director of the Westphalian Children’s Village Ghana (WCVG), Mr Sampson Owusu-Boampong, for his dedication to vulnerable children in the country.

Mr Owusu-Boampong, who is a native of Oyoko in the Ashanti region, received the “Order of Merit” award, a highest award of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Presenting the award, the German Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Christoph Retzlaff, lauded Mr Owusu-Boampong’s relentless efforts and goodwill towards orphans and the less privileged in society. 

He noted, “Special emphasis has to be put on the fact that you gave up your job in Germany in 1986 to take charge of the Children’s village in Ghana which was in a very difficult situation at the time”. 

Westphalian Children’s Village

The Westphalian Children’s Village provides a safe home for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in a bid to curb child maladjustment and develop inmates’ potentials whiles building their capacity to contribute meaningfully to society.

Since 1984, the Westphalian Children’s Village, Oyoko has been committed to this course and successfully passed out approximately 100 well nurtured, self-dependent inmates.
