GCNet presents GH¢250,000 to Ghana@60

The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) has presented a cheque for GH¢250,000 to the National Planning Committee of Ghana’s 60 Years celebrations.

The Strategy and Communications Manager of GCNet, Mrs Aba Lokko, presented the cheque on behalf of GCNet and explained that the gesture was the company’s contribution towards the year-long activities lined up to commemorate the country’s independence.

She noted that GCNet had been a model of public-private partnership in Ghana for 15 years, deploying innovative electronic solutions (e-Solutions), in partnership with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), to facilitate trade development, revenue mobilisation, business registration and business intelligence reporting.

“Our partnership with the GRA has seen improvement in revenue collection year-on-year and business competitiveness in the ease of doing business in the country, which has reflected in improvement in Ghana’s ranking in the 2016 World Bank Doing Business Index as the first in West Africa and among the top 10 in sub-Saharan Africa,” she said.

Partnership

GCNet’s partnership with the GRA has resulted in year-on-year increase in revenue mobilisation since the deployment of the Customs Trade Net Single Window, comprising a number of platforms such as the Ghana Customs Management Systems (GCMS), e-MDA Portal, the Ghana Integrated Cargo and Clearance Systems (GICCS) and the Total Revenue Integrated Processing Systems (TRIPS).

The Customs Trade Net Single Window, she stated, integrated all players in the trade community, adding that in a day more than 5,000 industry players connected to the portal.

“We renew our pledge to continuously support the government by partnering the GRA to deliver on its mandate,” Mrs Lokko said.

Response

The Chairman of the Events Sub-committee and Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mr Lord Commey, lauded the noble gesture and commended GCNet for contributing the second highest, saying it was a demonstration of its patriotic spirit.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, launched the National Planning Committee on January 26, 2017 and appealed to corporate institutions to support in raising the estimated GH¢20 million for the year-long celebration.
