Four robbers jailed a total of 64 years

The KMA Circuit Court, presided over by Mrs. Mary Nsenkyire, has sentenced four robbers to a total of 64 years imprisonment.

Kofi Frimpong Acquah, alias “Osty”, Richard Kwaku Effah, alias “Rocky”, and Kwabena Boateng, alias “Adwenfi” would serve 18 years each.

Their other accomplice Mohammed Kyeremateng, would however be doing 10 years.

The gang  had attacked and robbed some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of their electrical gadgets, costing about GH¢9,360.00.

All, except Kyeremateng, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Hannah Acheampong told the court that the incident happened on April 18, at about 0300 hours.

The victims were sleeping in their hostels at Ayeduase, when the convicts, armed with knives and a toy pistol, struck.

They forced their way into the rooms of the students in four different hostels, ordered that they surrendered all their electrical gadgets and other valuables – laptop computers, mobile phones, watches and tablets or get killed.

The prosecution said a night watchman, whose bravery led to the arrest of one of the robber, got hurt – had his palm slashed.

Some of the gadgets seized from the students were retrieved, Police Chief Inspector Acheampong added.
