Thirteen others are on admission at the Suhum Government Hospital following the accident involving a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicle, with registration number GW 9270-Z, and a Mercedes Benz Sprinter bus, with registration number AS 2389-13.

Those who died are yet to be identified, but their bodies have been deposited at the morgue of the Suhum Government Hospital.

The accident, which occurred around 6.45 p.m., is said to have thrown the farming community into a state of shock and mourning.

Burst tyre

Confirming the story to the Daily Graphic, the Suhum Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Yahaya Muchiraru, said initial investigations revealed that the Land Cruiser, which was from Kumasi, burst one of its back tyres around Apeatu.

He said in a bid to control the vehicle, the driver ran into the Sprinter bus which was coming from Accra, leading to the instant death of the four persons.

He said the police and other people were quickly informed and they rushed to the scene to rescue the injured, who were rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital.

Mr Muchiraru advised drivers to be mindful of road safety regulations while driving, since "speeding kills”.
