The Country Representative of the ZF, Mr Salia Alhassan, made the statement at the graduation ceremony for 10 young ladies trained in dressmaking at Bole in the Bole District in the Northern Region last Saturday.

He said the foundation would continue to serve as a link to transform charitable acts into empowering the less privileged to acquire skills and the necessary accessories to enable them to have an avenue to generate income for prosperous living.

Mr Alhassan added that the ZF was committed to supporting the underprivileged in society, in collaboration with government agencies such as the district assemblies and unit committees in the communities where it operated.

Beneficiaries

Drawn from Bole and Kumasi in the Northern and Ashanti regions respectively, the beneficiaries, who passed out at the ceremony, were given sewing machines and accessories to help them start their own businesses.

Since the inception of its gender empowerment programme, the ZF has helped train about 100 young ladies with the aim to empower them to be self-sufficient to start their own businesses.

The training was scaled down to one year from two with the needed materials to help beneficiaries complete the training on schedule.

Support

A representative from the Bole District Assembly, Mr Ibrahim Mumuni, thanked the organisation for its gesture and recounted the several interventions initiated by the foundation, including building mosques and schools, livestock rearing projects, hand-dug wells, caring for orphans and provision of food items to Muslims during Ramadan.

He thanked the foundation and its donors for the good work done in helping the less privileged. He expressed the willingness of the assembly to collaborate with the foundation and appealed to the young ladies to put their training to good use, in order for it to be beneficial to them in future.

A representative of the Bolewura, Jombo Iddisah, thanked the donors for the support and appealed to the NGO for support in the building of a meetings place by the traditional authority.
