It was aimed at responding effectively to the demand from the private sector for more technological innovation.

The forum was on the theme: “Strategic plan towards Private sector research and technology innovation.” It was also to provide incentives for institutions or staff members to source projects that meet the needs of the private sector and local communities.

The Rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Prof. N. N. N. Nsowah-Nuamah, stressed the need for the institution to strengthen its research projects to enhance the private sector for national development.

He said the institute was mandated to teach, research and train both practical and theory to meet the demands of industry.

The Business Development Manager of Kumasi Polytechnic and Project Co-coordinator, Mr Eric Osei, said the vision was to move the polytechnics away from being a supply-driven research institution to focus on delivering demand-driven research.

He said the Kumasi Polytechnic provided a favourable environment for teaching, research, skill and entrepreneurship training in science, technology, applied social sciences and applied arts for industrial and community development.
