Falsyd shrugged off a challenge from the defending champions, University Primary School and two other schools to emerge as the winners.

At the end of the contest, Falsyd bagged 41 points, Kabore Basic School from Ho had 33 points to come second, University Primary School from Cape Coast followed with 32 points for third position and Christian Vertical Centre from Tema took fourth position with 31 points.

The Editor of the Junior Graphic, Mrs Mavis Kitcher, said all the contestants should see themselves as winners in their own rights since they had won in their respective groups to be competing at the finals.

She said the exercise embarked on was to help Basic School students improve on their reading, writing and spelling skills.

Mrs Kitcher encouraged the other contestants not to give up but rather improve upon their spelling skills and continue reading to learn new words and come back stronger next year.

Each school at the competition was represented by three students. Prince Jaymills, Isaac Sarfoah Adu and Paulin Adagudu were for Falsyd Foundation School.

For Kabore School Complex, Quainoo Roselena, Nyonator Henry and Adevu Klenam represented them.
