Kobina Kankani was charged with abetment of crime. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding judge, Mr Isaac Oheneba Kuffour, asked Kankani to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for six months.

The prosecutor, Inspector  Peter Agbelie, told the court that on October 23, 2016, one Regina Sarfo, who also happens to be a prisons officer in Winneba, boarded a bus driven by Kankani from Swedru heading towards Winneba.

He said on reaching Awomerew near Winneba Junction, one Daniel (now at large) who was the driver’s mate asked the driver to stop and pick a passenger though the bus was full.

Inspector Agbelie said Regina appealed to the driver not to inconvenience them by taking more passengers.

He said Daniel got annoyed and rained insults on Regina, calling her a foolish woman and a witch and also slapped her on the face, resulting in a cut on the mouth.

The prosecutor  said  when they got  to Winneba Junction, Kankani told Daniel to run away, so Daniel absconded.

Regina lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of Kankani.
